Meet Matt Your Pilot

Flight History

Blue Ice Aviation is owned and operated by Matt Keller. Matt was born in Alaska and inherited his dad's love for flying. Immediately after graduating from high school Matt received his private pilots license. Matt decided to further his flying career by attending Moody Aviation where he received extensive flight training in bush operations during the 5 year program. Matt also received his certified aviation mechanic rating as well as flight instructor certificate. After graduation he flew for Peninsula Airways in Western Alaska, and then Island Hoppers in Kona, Hawaii. In Hawaii Matt flew tours around the Big Island and Kilauea Volcano. Matt then moved back to Alaska and started working for his father-in-law Mike Meekin at Meekin's Air Service. After several years of flying for Meekin's Air Service he started Blue Ice Aviation. Matt has nearly 4000 hours of flight time, most of which has been earned in Alaska's vast wilderness.

Blue Ice's Certification

Blue Ice Aviation is approved under Federal Aviation Regulations Part 135 to conduct air-taxi operations in Alaska, Canada, and the Continental US. Piper Super-Cub

Matt operates a Piper Super-Cub on Bush Wheels, Strait Skis, or Wheel Skis. The Super Cub is operated almost exclusively "off-field", in other words mountains, glaciers, and river bars. Matt's desire is to transport everybody into Alaska's vast wilderness. Check out his BLOG here.
